Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.
Lower Elementary School
Ages 6-9 (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Levels)
Lower Elementary students start with daily plans, choosing the order in which to do the work. Any work not finished will be done first the following day. Weekly plans provide the challenge of organization and the satisfaction of completion. Work time contains both independent and small group instruction which is one of the benefits of team teachers. Teachers check work and provide additional help when needed.
There is one long-range project assigned each year, with requirements appropriately customized for each level. Students do oral presentations of their completed projects to the entire class, after which they answer questions and obtain feedback from classmates and teachers.
In addition to beautiful Montessori materials, each classroom has a science area and its own library which is complete with more advanced literature, science, history, geography and research books. Stanford Achievement Tests are given annually beginning in the third level. Compared with private schools nationally, our third level students average two years or more above the norm.
