Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.
Chess Teams Placed 2nd and 6th at the Mid-State Tournament
Our Montessori Academy chess players performed very well at the Mid-State Scholastic Chess Championship at Christ the King School, this past Saturday. In the K-2nd grade section, our team placed second. Krutin Devesh, Nandu Govindaswamy, Aarthe Govindaswamy,
Jad Rahme medaled and Arya Jalem helped our team to second, just a half point out of first. In the 3rd-4th grade section, Ben Willis, Holly Meyer and Mikaela Brennan played very well to make it to sixth, as a team. All of our players exemplified great sportsmanship. Thanks to all our parents for taking the time to bring their students to this big event.
There are several more tournaments coming up in the near future, like the one at Meigs Magnet Middle School on December 3rd and the Regional Individual Tournament in January. All of our club members are invited to compete in tournament play when they feel they are ready. When we have a good turnout, we will have a great chance to bring home many more team trophies and learn more about the game by facing some of the area's top scholastic players. I will attach the flyers for the next couple of tournaments.
