Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.
I can hardly believe that I am writing the last newsletter of the year. The school year is quickly winding down. We have some beautiful traditions in our Lower Elementary classrooms that occur at the end of the year. As you know our third level students are graduating to the next grade. This makes the last several weeks of school a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to them and wish them well. Each third level will receive a book of heartfelt letters from his/her classmates. These much anticipated and treasured books will be presented to the third level students on May 24 during our recognition ceremony. Writing these letters is our language work for many days. The letters are very sweet and students work hard to use their best penmanship and spelling to complete this special gift.
Also during our recognition ceremony each child will orally present their End of Year Speech. This too, is an excellent language exercise that students do in class. It is fun to reminisce about the year. It is also a great opportunity to practice public speaking. We hope that you can make time to attend this wonderful morning.
This year our class has propagated many houseplants. We are proud of how beautiful and healthy the plants are. Mrs. Wildman and I have always believed strongly in the idea of service projects and this year it only seems natural that these plants should be the center of that project. We would like to sell the plants for $5 each and use all of the proceeds to make a purchase for the Heifer Project. Beginning this Friday we will have plants for sale. The sale will end on Friday, May 17. The class will then decide what animal will be purchased to help a needy family.
If you are looking for one last way that you can help our classroom please consider coming to a cleaning party on Wednesday, May 22. We will be cleaning desks, shelves and materials. We will try to make it a festive after school event! Please let me know if you can come from 3-4 on that day.
Room 12 is still basking in the glow of our beautiful assembly. Thank you for attending. Mrs. Wildman and I are so proud of them. It was truly a very Montessori performance. Mrs. Wildman’s vision was truly spectacular and all of us benefitted from being part of such a wonderful event!
Thanks again for sharing your children with us each and every day. I enjoy working with all of you. There are days when I wish you could be here to witness the conversations, kindness and learning that takes place.
