Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.
It is hard to believe that there are only two short months left of the 2012-2013 school year. Even with it being a short month, March still proved to be very busy and productive!
The children were all very excited to welcome our new class pet. Roger the hermit crab joined our class fish, Bob, the week before we left for Spring Break. The children all cast their votes for what to name our new crab. It was a close race between both names (Roger and Hermie), which inevitably led to the decision that our class crab deserved a middle name as well. We are happy to officially welcome Roger Hermie Crab to Room 2!
In addition to Roger, we also welcomed a new classmate in March. Emily Talbert joined our class early in March and has been a wonderful addition to the Room 2 family. We are also looking forward to welcoming Riley Sciullo to our class in a few weeks. Riley is moving with her family from Atlanta and has been attending a Montessori school there as well.
As April rolls in, we have said goodbye to our science study of ocean life and hello to all things insects, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals! This past week this included getting both caterpillar and lady bug larva. The children are very excited to observe the larva as they go through the metamorphosis process to become butterflies and lady bugs. We are also looking forward to Earth Day this month (April 22nd) when we plan to begin planting pansies, tomatoes, our pumpkins from this fall, and anything else we can think of. If you would like to donate to this endeavor, please feel free to contact us. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful parents in Room 2. You all have really helped to make our experiences wonderful so far this year, and we cannot wait to see what wonderful opportunities these last two months will hold.
