Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.
Dear Room 9 Parents,
As difficult as it is to believe, we are approaching the final six weeks of school! The children have all made such wonderful progress this year, and we are excited to see what they will accomplish during these final weeks of school.
We enjoyed all of the grandparents, parents, family members, and special friends who visited our classroom last week! The children seemed to really enjoy sharing their classroom and showing their work, and they put on a wonderful performance. We hope that all of our guests enjoyed this special day.
In science, we are completing our study of birds and fish. The children have been learning about the many varieties found in these groups of vertebrates, and they have discovered new vocabulary such as cere, crown, abdomen, downy feathers, dorsal fin, caudal fin, gills, and more. This week we will switch our focus to invertebrates with our study of insects, always a favorite with the children.
In geography, the children are studying the continent of Africa with flags, books, puzzles, and animal works. A very popular work is our Egyptian excavation in which the children uncover artifacts in the sand. (It has also been a good material for the children to practice their cleaning skills afterwards!)
The kindergartners continue to work hard as their graduation from Primary gets closer. They are working on mastery of many different math skills, learning about money and time, gaining ease in their cursive writing, and continuing an in-depth study of science and geography. All of them are reading well and continue to improve their reading skills. As they grow in mastery, they grow in confidence and their willingness to take on new challenges. It is a very exciting time for them!
April Montessori Gift: Community of parents- Many of you have found that in addition to Montessori being a great fit for your child, it’s a great fit for you as you get to know other like-minded parents and form a strong support system within the school. We have so many kind, interesting, funny, supportive, and friendly parents at MA. If you have not yet become a part of this community, make plans to attend events such as our Room 9 Moms’ Night Out on April 18, our All-School Picnic on April 19, and the Mother’s Day picnic on May 10. Go to birthday parties. Plan play-dates. We have a wonderful community of families in our school. Become a part of it!
