Dear Room 3 Parents,

We’re off to a great start for this school year.  The children have settled in and are making progress already.  It’s fun to watch them absorb the information as if they were sponges.  We love the three to six year old classroom.

We’ve been studying the human body in the science area.  Therefore, at lunch, the children have been asking which item will help them grow the most and which item should be left until last.  If time allows, they could help pack their lunchbox at home.  This would give you the opportunity to help them learn to make healthy choices.

In geography we’ve just begun to discuss that our planet is made of three things: land, air and water.  The children have also learned four land forms…island, lake, peninsula and gulf.   They’re having a tough time with the pronunciation of this last one, gulf.  When they say it…it’s golf instead of gulf.  Could we possibly have too many “golfer” dads at home?  In the near future we will exchange the land forms for four new ones and will begin to learn the names of the seven continents.

Regarding the subjects of math and language:  The beginning of any school year consists of review (for those returning students) and assessments for the new students.  We’ve completed that process and have moved on to new knowledge.

We’re still working on our “inside” and  “outside” voices.  Please work with us (when your child is at home) on learning the difference and using the appropriate volume of voice.
