Montessori Academy's vision is that each student
will become an independent, confident, motivated learner, and a responsible community member as a result of the dynamic partnership between
students, parents, and teachers.
This partnership within the exceptional Montessori environment, while developing these characteristics, enables each student to become a life-long learner.

Dear Room 3 Parents,

We have almost finished the first semester of the 2012/2013 school year.  That’s hard to believe.  This past year seems to have passed more quickly than others in the past.  Could it be that we’re simply getting older?  Let’s not think about that right now.

In the classroom the geography shelf has turned attention to the Polar Regions and the continent of Antarctica.  It seems an appropriate thing to do at this time of year.  As is customary…anyone having artifacts or pictures from the “featured” continent is welcome to share with the class (funny, but we never have any participants when we study the Polar Regions).  The science shelf is currently all about our Solar System.  That topic will change after our winter break.  And, as usual, the children continue to steadily progress in the math and language areas.

We’d like to say thank you again to everyone for another successful year of providing “Angel Tree” gifts for children in need.  Not only is it a generous thing to do at a time of year when you are all doing so much already…but it is a great teaching tool (to help us make the children aware of how fortunate they are).  Well done.

We will soon find the “winter break” upon us.  Tuesday of next week will be our final school day of 2012.  It is also a half day beginning with an “Open House” in the classroom followed by a SPECTACULAR musical performance starring your children!  Yes, the room is buzzing with the songs we will be singing (you have probably heard some of these songs at home).  Just like last year, we will be performing with the children of Room #4 at 9:30 a.m.  We say “spectacular” but as we are all aware…anything could happen during “said” performance (and usually does).  So have your camera/camcorder ready and come be our audience next Tuesday.  You’ll be glad you did.

Hoping to see you then,
Leanna Pound and Lisa Hill
